Andean Music Odyssey
"Amado Espinoza and Karen Lisondra's presentation of Andean Music Odyssey was a wonderful experience for our middle school music and Spanish class students. Our students were actively engaged in the presentation for the entire time! Karen and Amado are great at including student participants, asking thought provoking questions, and performing exciting music throughout the presentation. This was such a wonderful exposure to Andean culture, community, and music. I highly recommend them for any educational presentation to young people."- Jennifer Lahasky, MM, Music Educator (Blue Valley School District)
Junkyard
Orchestra
"Using found materials, Espinoza has built flutes based on Chinese, Arab and Native American designs out of plastic pipes; bagpipes using pipe and a plastic yellow glove; a charango from a cookie tin; a didgeridoo from a vacuum cleaner extension; sikus (Andean panpipes) from magic markers; a cello from a trashbin; a dumbek from a five-gallon bucket and an x-ray of Lisondra’s neck; and an Amazonian coyok (which emulates bird sounds) out of a plastic syringe...
...that’s Junkyard Orchestra: ingenuity and resourcefulness, building something better out of what’s available." - Libby Hanssen, KC Studio
